I have been weaning my 16month old DS off the breast for a few months now and only feed him in the morning and night(breastmilk) and now it seems throughout the night! He was doing okay initially with 100mls cows milk in the morning and the afternoon. Now he's drinking about 50-100mls thoughout the whole day. Today he's had about 25mls cows milk and water all day and refuses to drink anything. I've tried different cups, beakers, teats but nothing. He doesn't ask for the breast either. Giving him water and letting him cry during the night isn't an option as we are staying with people at the moment. Has anyone got any advice?

I enjoy breastfeeding him, but want to cut down to morning and evening, with a view to stopping in the next 6 months or so. I'm not concerned about his calcium intake just his total lack of fluids as he hardly drinks anything. I really want to stop feeding during the night as I think we could all do with a decent nights sleep!

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Unfortunately ds screams even louder when dh tries to settle him at night . The idea of trying to get him to drink when I do is a good one, I hadn't thought of it! I'll also look up the book too - in the mean time I guess I'll just have to get used to disturbed nights!
