Very short breastfeeds

Hi just looking for a bit of advice/support about breastfeeding my 4.5mo old. My son had a tongue tie division twice at 6 weeks old. Prior to this he was basically on my boob 24/7, feeding up to an hour etc
After the second division things massively improved and he went up from 50% to 75% feeding since then has got shorter and shorter to the point now he literally has 2/3 minute feeds approx every 4/5 hours in the day. If I catch him at the opportune moment during a contact nap he drinks better and I might get 5/6 minutes. Overnight feedings are 2/3 hourly and he can feed for up to 10 minutes sometimes having both breasts.
I seem to have a lot of milk. I’m still constantly leaking and have to change breast pads often. I think I also have a strong let down because milk often sprays all over both of us when unlatches for a breather.
at his last weigh in he had slight dropped % and is now sort of inbetween the 50/75%
of should also mention. He has a massive preference for one boob over the other. He refuses to drink from the right in the day but is happy to at night.
thanks so much for getting so far!

Mine got really distracted around this age, kept latching, swivelling around to look around, then throwing their arms back to latching for a few seconds, looking around, it really drove me nuts! It was better when I was in the dark.

My two girls (now adults) only ever fed for 5-10 mins per feed so I wouldn’t worry too much. Eldest had undiagnosed tongue tie too so latching was a nightmare from the word go,

My babies only ever had quick feeds like you describe. Your strong letdown will likely mean that flow is good and he is getting what he needs. Are there plenty of wet nappies, and does he seem content? These are the main things.. I never bothered with weighing and tracking centiles as I had no concerns but if you do have a concern and he doesn’t seem happy then clearly you should speak to a professional for help.
Being full of milk also isn’t a problem, and it’s suggesting you are producing plenty. Boob preference is normal too.

I had a firehose of a letdown..I could fill a 4oz bottle in about a minute if I pumped. Baby fed for 1-2 mins at this age!

i could have written this. DD is 10m now and still feeding fine.

Yes his morning nappy is sodden and has wet nappies throughout the day and normally one poo a day!
As a baby he’s a very placid boy he hardly ever cries! So seems pretty happy!

Yes Iv used a haaka and fill it quickly so hopefully I’m worrying for nothing I would like him to drink a bit more frequently in the day though especially when it’s still warm!

Does she still have the very short feeds?

Yeah she is pretty efficient! Ramps it up a bit if she is going through a fussy phase but generally doesn’t feed a long time, although after a similar time to you & your baby she did then increase but probably 10mins max. Introducing solids made a big difference too. I had quite a good supply & fast let down as well so assumed it was related to that.
