Breast feeding - sore boob, not feeling good at all?

Had a baby 3.5 weeks ago, exclusively breastfeeding, got these symptoms

Very sore boob, feels like its been knocked even tho it hasn't, very tender, not swollen particularly
Frozen cold, am stood here shaking

Any idea what it is? Don't think its mastitis as no red patches.

Is it just my body telling me to slow down? Have had a busy day/ week with it being half term and 2 other DS's to look after as well as baby DS.

Any advice gratefully received

you can get fluey symptoms with a blocked duct as milk is reabsorbed into your bloodstream - body reacts as it would to a virus
will return with links hold on

kellymom

and yes it is a sign to take it easy - blocked ducts are a classic symptom when you have been busier than normal

FandZ - thank you so much for your quick reply and the link, does sound like blocked duct after reading the link. Will try and take it a bit easier.

I had them regularly when ds was little and they are nasty little buggers

I found massaging the breast from lump or sore section to nipple, either between feeds or during feed, sometimes shifted it

also feed with baby's nose pointing towards the blockage

same here.
saw DR and same diagnosis as above, also referred to as engorgement mastitis.
eventually i did get a red patch as well and fever for 24h.

All you need is rest rest rest. paracetamol and nurofen work wonders with the pain and yes frozen cabbage leaves do ease the swelling.
