right i know you cant make a baby take a aoother, but what stage shuld you introduce one if breastfeeding?

am so confused now with fsid's advise on soothers and previous advice regarding breastfeeding.

Early introduction of soothers can interfer with the establishment of bf. irrc.

I think, the fsid's advice is in relation to if they have a soother they should be given it to sleep with, something about how their usual breathing is used to having a soother in their mouth???? I only have a vague memory of it sure someone else can be specific.

If bf then no need for soother at night.

If you choose that way obv.

dd1 loved hers but she was bottle fed from 6 weeks.

am trying to remember if dd3 had one or we gave it up as a bad job

i wouldn't. i encouraged dd to suck her fist, then she found her thumb. much easier.

Sorry to sound rude, but why do you want baby to have a soother?
Fair enough get couple for in case, but why do you need to introduce it??

dd gave up her thumb at 14 months. not always a problem.

neither my dd or ds would take a soother and niether sucked their thumbs either..

bonnie as connor says, the fsids advice is to introduce one due to cutting risks of cot death. but am totally confused by it all.

right will cross one off the list.

My dsis didn't give up her thumb till she was 9 and her thumb was all out of shape and would sometimes get infected. twas yucky!

thats ok. i only briefly skimmed current advice before pregnancy, so didnt take close heed.

dd1 had one unti lshe was 4, which was a PITA, but she did give it up eventually.

dd2 hadf one for 6months.

and cant even remember if dd3 ever took one, i know i bought a pack, but no idea if they ever got used.
