Before I go out and waste a lot of money on various different ones?

My bfing friend's lo likes the old fashioned cherry shaped dummy in latex, not silicone, if that's any help?

chipmonkey · 25/05/2008 19:41

Actually saw some cherry shaped ones in Tescos but decided to hold off till I asked on MN!

are they the odd shaped ones, that come in a pack of 2 for £3.99?
bf baby hated these too, i think they were too short. I got morrisons clear silicone flat teat ones , much better & cheaper!!

chipmonkey · 25/05/2008 19:43

No these were Tommee Tippee.

mams - bubba loved hers, not a cherry teat though.

Pannacotta · 25/05/2008 19:49

DS2 liked the chunky orthodontic Tommee Tippee ones. They look a bit odd as they are see through, you can see your baby's open mouth while they are chomping on the dummy.
Still he liked it...

Pannacotta, those are not the Closer to Nature ones?

DD would only have these

jamila169 · 25/05/2008 20:08

mam ulti- the ones with the flat teat

Pannacotta · 25/05/2008 20:59

Yes chipmonkey, those are the ones.

ConnorTraceptive · 25/05/2008 22:14

We just bought the see through ones too - DS looks like a fish! Tis not pretty!

He hasn't really taken to it though.

chipmonkey · 25/05/2008 22:40

at this stage I don't care if he looks like fish, reptile or mammal if it keeps him quiet!
Now, having said that, after throwing a colicky fit last night when we had guests, he is now sleeping soundly!

I did buy a variety and he did prefer some to others, prob worth buying two types and seeing what he prefers. Think I read somewhere that silicone dummies are sometimes preferred by bf babies.
The teat on the CLoser to Nature ones is quite nipple-like so maybe thats why its popular?

MammaK · 25/05/2008 23:05

Tommee Tippee soft rim worked for my bf DD & for other bf babies I know - same as Pannacotta describes. Wouldn't be without them - difficult to find a good soother clip to fit them so have plenty in stock!

chloemegjess · 25/05/2008 23:06

I agree with sleepycat - NUK are great for BF babies. I have FINALLY got my DD to take a bottle when I bought a NUK one - she took to it straight away. The dummy, she will only take a NUk one, but still cant work out how to keep it in without dropping for more than 5 mins!!lol

sannie · 26/05/2008 09:03

my bf baby will only take NUK soothers

JoyS · 26/05/2008 14:01

Mine didn't like ANY soother. 2 years on I keep finding different ones around the house from my desperate attempts to get her to suck on anything but me.

chipmonkey · 27/05/2008 14:31

Thanks all!!Well they had no NUK ones in his size in any pharmacies I tried but I got the Tommee Tippee Close to Nature ones in Boots. He took it like a dream! Am relieved as ds3 wouldn't take any soother or bottle so am hoping this means ds4 won't refuse bottles either.
