Hi,
I changed DS's milk from SMA Gold to Cow & Gate a few days ago (he's 3 months old) as he was suddenly possetting a lot and have also noticed that he strains to poop and usually does some really green fairly solid poo before the yellow soft one comes out. Also, DH and I suspected he has suffered from colic for a while (constant crying for no reason!). Since then, his poo has completely changed in colour and texture (it's now like BF stools - he was excl BF for a month so I know) - it's now yellow and very runny. Ok, I understand this is obviously due to the change in his diet (I was told SMA Gold is the 'richest' formula out there and indeed, C&G milk does seem and taste a lot more 'watery').
But this afternoon, he did such an explosive poo that it went all up his back, through the arm pits when I tried to remove the vest and a bit even got onto his ear! Of course he had to go into the sink to be cleaned. Otherwise, he seems absolutely fine - seems more settled, possetting a lot less, is alert and still a little chunky monkey. I also started him on Colief the same time we changed his milk (I know, stupid idea as now we have no idea if it's the change in formula or the Colief that is changing his poo). It does seem to have lessen his crying. So, my question is how long should I give this change in his poo to 'settle' down? Should I be worried? The baby clinic I go to happens on a Monday and this being a bank holiday, I won't be able to go and ask my HV so would appreciate any advice? Thanks!
