Obese 8 month old? - sorry if it's already been done.

I found this article yesterday. I know it's from the Daily Mail, and therefore deliberately sensationalist. I was just wondering what others thought. Whilst I feel 41lbs is large, it does say that the parents noticed a large weight gain from 1 month old, and also says he is breastfed. Short of feeding him pureed McDonalds in great amount, I don't see how this child could be obese in the true sense of the word, i.e. overfed. I would be wondering more about some sort of metabolic disorder for example. What do you think?

Sorry if this is badly written - sleep deprivation

i am actually wondering if he has an overgrowth disorder or if naturally going to be like my dd2 (who was well over 30lb at a year old and the same height as her 3year old sister).

if he is breastfed, then i dont see how he can be overfed.

and lots of babies at 8months old cant crawl or stand. dd1 wasnt at this age, neither was dd3, dd2 was but she did everything fast, including growing!!

I agree on the crawling and standing, my DD did quite early but loads of my friend's babies are even close to it at 8 months and more. I just think it's annoying that he's been labelled in this way when he may have something wrong with him or just be big. You never know, when he does start moving maybe the weight will just drop off him! Bloody media

It is very basic isn't it, kazbeth? Just a quick article written to shock. What's a shame is that people will read this and draw the exact conclusions which are intended.
