Extra Hungry baby Milk - Have I done the right thing?

DS (18 weeks) was on 7oz bottles of regular formula up until a week ago. He had started waking in the night again and time between feeds was getting less and less. So, we're now on the extra hungry milk - 7oz bottles (5 in 24 hours)which appears to have worked i.e. not waking and going 4 ish hours between feeds. However, i've been reading other threads and just wondering if I've done the right thing? Some threads say to just feed more but I'd be back to feeding 2 hourly if I'd stayed on regular formula!? Also, when he this starts to not satisfy him, do i just increse the volume? I don't want to wean until 6 months
Any advice or opinion welcome x (by the way, DS was bf up until 16 weeks)

you can increase the amount in volume to 9 oz..

of either regular or hungry formula

as he has growth spurts he will take more milk, and milk is the most filling and satisfying thing you can give to him, more filling than food etc...

as long as he has not got tummy ache or constipation from the hungry baby milk stick with it. try offering 8 or 9 oz at each feed, especially if he is finishing his bottles

it is normal for babies to suddenly up their intake and then settle back down when the spurt is over

CJ - what does your HV say?

Is returning to bf an option for you?

2 hrly feeding is not abnormal....

Hungry baby milk is not really much different from normal formula in terms of your baby's health - not sure why you are concerned about this? The protein is different, and some people feel it is less suitable for very young babies, but your baby is a bit older.

Tiktok - think I've just read too many threads and taken on too many opinions! Return to bfeeding not an option now but armed with the knowledge I have now, my next (hopefully) DC will be bfed for 6 months! My HV is a bit wet to be honest! Funny really, although I'm a child HCP, you don't really know what child development is about until you have your own!! (I digress, sorry). Thanks for reassurance - think that's what I needed.
