How do I drop a dream feed (BFed baby)

Hi All

Looking for some advice my DS is now just over 6mths old and is on 3 meals a day. I would like to try and drop his 10pm/dream feed. This would leave him with 4 feeds a day (6:30am, 10:30am, 3:00pm & 7pm).

Any ideas on how I could go about this.

Is he waking up to have the dream feed or is he waking as you feed him?

I decided to drop the dream feed at about 5 months as my LO kept waking up. We just stopped didnt cut it down or offer water. Over the first week he would randomly wake and I would give him a little boob but after a couple of weeks he stopped waking and slept through.

He tends to wake around 10:30pmish if I haven't feed him beforehand. I was wondering if maybe it had become a bit of a habit rather than he needs it?!?!

If I remember rightly from my baby whisperer book she advised to bring it forward by fifteen minutes a day and drop an ounce every few days so you are doing it gradually and that way the baby does not wake up at the usual time. Of course that's only useful advice if you a ffing.

I would leave it, lots of babies still need feeding between 7 and 7 and the danger of dropping it is that you will introduce another feed at 1 or 2 in the morning.

Thats what happened with us he was definitely waking out of habit. Give a try and see what happens you can always introduce it again if he keeps waking.
