Advice on how to stop pumping?

Hi all,

Ive been exclusively pumping for 4 months now and am ready to stop, for the past 3 weeks I’ve been dropping pump sessions from 7 a day I’m now down to 3, about every 8 hours for 30 mins at a time.

I’m only producing about 3oz at a time when pumping now and my boobs don’t feel super engorged inbetween pumps but they do get the tingle feeling and leak sometimes especially before my first pump of the day or if I’m feeding her via bottle. Just a bit stuck on where to go next do I pump twice a day morning and evening or is going from 8 hours to 16 going to cause problems? Really trying to avoid clogged ducts or anything want it to be a slow wean off but would like to be done in next couple of weeks. Anyone who’s exclusively pumped got any advice on this last bit and the best way to stop?

It was a long time ago now that I did it, but would just advise to take it slowly. I tried to do it too quickly and got mastitis twice, which was awful. I think I did it eventually by cutting down the time I was pumping rather than dropping the number of times, and my milk supply got low and just stopped. Took about a month overall.

I’d perhaps reduce the length of the pumping sessions. So rather than 30 mins do 25, then 20 etc etc and perhaps stretch the time between gradually too. I didn’t pump but stopped breastfeeding in a similar way and had no issues.

Thanks, yeah I have been weaning off for 3 weeks now this is my 4th week just getting fed up and wanting to be done haha.

I think I’ll reduce time pumping now not drop another pump hopefully when I get down to 3x 10/15 min sessions the output will be so small stopping should be ok
