Weight loss while breastfeeding

im currently very over weight, obese according to my bmi, Iv gained 5 stone during pregnancy and pp, the breastfeeding cravings haven’t helped, I’m incredibly uncomfortable in my body and I am ready to take back my health.
that being said is it ok to lose 2lb a week while breastfeeding without effecting supply? My daughters nearly 5 months old now so my supply is very well established, I have booked us a holiday abroad in September so I’m wanting to shift at least a couple of stone by then,
my daily calorie intakes around 1800kcals a day and I aim to do 10,000 steps daily, drink 3ltrs of water & try get some good rest in between as I do still feed my lo every 3 hrs at night and suffer with insomnia so getting enough sleep is definitely the most difficult part of this whole journey back to health.

has anyone else had success with weight loss while still breastfeeding? Any advice tips or tricks would be very much appreciated.

I know everyone is different but I put on about 4.5stone in my first pregnancy and while the (unintentional) weight loss was slow, I lost it all plus another stone after breastfeeding for 18months. It uses a lot of calories to feed a toddler!

I dropped 16% body weight breastfeeding! I was on a restricted diet due to my daughters food allergies and I had severe pnd and struggled to eat. I always had a very good supply.
I walked for 2-3h a day as it was the only way she napped from 5 months. Eventually it took its toll on my body but I was quite under weight by this point.
I'd start slow and incrementally make adjustments.

Yes, it's fine. Breastfeeding works for mammals because the energy needs come at the expense of the mother (i.e fat stores) Make sure you're eating really well in terms of vitamins and minerals, essential oils but the calories will be there in the milk either way.

Thanks everyone, I did figure since I’m largely overweight at the moment that my body had plenty of back up resources to produce milk but just wanted to be sure iv never had problems with supply with this baby or my other children so all should be ok, and iv always eaten very well/clean my problem is the amount I was eating and the frequency, felt like my stomach was a bottomless pit that just couldnt be satisfied but upped my water intake now and just choosing to ignore the hunger as I’m tracking my calories and know im getting plenty much just be the prolactin making me feel like I could eat a horse 😅

it varies from person to person but in my experience I lost all of the baby weight while breastfeeding and never had an issue with supply dropping
