do you bf in bed? this saves me. (great name btw!!)

deaconblue · 18/05/2008 10:53

the bags under my eyes are green/black with tiredness today. Feeding in bed does help, I just lay there with eyes shut but she has a tendency to drown in milk at first so i have to try to be alert at least at the beginning of the feed.

it's a great look - I'm hopeful pouchy eyes (as my dd calls it) will catch on!!

My sympathies, how old? DS2 is just starting to have a decent stretch at night now.

mumofk · 18/05/2008 11:48

Don't know if its unreasonable but my DD is just the same most nights, wants feeding all evening then up for 1hr feed/messing about/crying then 1hr rest, then start again. Sympathies...

she is 18 days old. We had a couple of nights where she fed two hourly in the evening and then did 4 hourly stretches at night which was brilliant. Last night was grim though.

Poor you. My DD is almost 4 weeks and so greedy. I can't believe she can feed somuch and for so long. Last night it was 1hr feeding 3hrs sleeping but the night before it was 1 1/2 sleeping 1hr feeding. Last night i tried the gro-bag for first time which seemed to help.

yogimum · 18/05/2008 18:17

I know its of no help but babies this young will still feed as often as this. if you are bf could you express and get your partner to do a feed so you can get some sleep. It will get easier, promise.

ChairmumMiaow · 18/05/2008 19:29

DS fed 4-6 hours each night for weeks with at most a 10 min sleep or play between feeds, and has still, at 17 weeks, never gone more than 4.5hrs (once a night for a week, then back to 2-3 hourly)

IME, 2 hourly at night is normal even now - he feeds a couple of times before and after my dinner, then for around 45 mins or longer after his bath, before he goes to sleep. He eats properly so he's definitely hungry - what else can you do?

Sorry to not be telling you what you want to hear (as I wanted someone to tell me his cluster feeding was not normal all those weeks ago) but things will get better (then worse, then better )

deaconblue · 19/05/2008 11:25

actually it's nice to hear I'm not hte only one. Ds only fed 4 hourly from the beginning so this is a bit of a shock and of course with him I could then sleep all morning but now I'm up with ds at 6ish. She's just broken her own record though and was really hungry just 1 1/2 hours after her last feed! Was worried she might be snacking but she feeds for 20 mins at a time and my breast seems pretty empty by the end ( I know they never are empty but ykwim)
