6 month old only has wake periods of 1 hrs- 1hr 30mins during day, I have been told this is strange and I am now worrying what if baby is deficient in something causing tiredness?

Example, today baby napped 8 30 - 9 30am (contact nap with about 5 wakings to latch back onto breast). By 10 40 asleep again

They are on the shorter side. Will they nap in a cot/buggy. It may be that the sleep is broken with all the waking to reattach.

If you're worried contact your HV or GP.

Is the baby otherwise alert and developing normally?

Get baby checked by HV.

Look at wake time over the day. If they're only sleeping an hour and very disrupted, that's not going to give much rest.

So if baby is awake for 1hr 30, hour nap, wake, hour nap again - over a day I assume that's 4 naps, 5 wake windows? So 8 hours awake, 4 hours asleep ish in 12 hours a day? That's not necessarily different from 4 x 2 hour wake windows and 3 longer sleeps.

What you're missing is sleep consolidation.

Thank you, this is helpful and reassuring. I was sure this was the issue but just needed confirmation/ stop doubting my own thoughts
