Biting, just about at the end of my tether...

right I'm being a bit lazy as don't have the energy to search archives on this and hoping for some quick help/support.

Ds is 10 months old and has been biting on and off since his first teeth came in. It's been paticularly bad the last few days and today I'm just so sore from the constant nipping. I don't think things are being helped by the fact that poor wee mite has just spent a week with nasty d&v bug and is very tired and cranky. Also I'm expecting number 3 so am prob a bit more sensitive than usual and I'm wandering if this might be having an impact on feeding too. It's got to the point where I'm soo tense latching him on/feeding becasue I'm expecting a bite at any moment. Noticed that he pushes away a lot with his arms recently when feeding too. Have been taking him off when he bites and putting him down on the floor - usually then recommence feeding after a few mins. When he bites it's not just a quick nip, has a tendancy to hang on a bit - pinching his nose often the only way to get him off. Don't want to give up just yet (fed dd for nearly 17months) but am wandering if it might be easier to just express from now on. Really fed up .

Could be being pregnant has changed the taste? have heard that can happen. Also know a friend whose son weaned himself off the breast - just kept pushing her away - at 11 months so could be that? I have a biter too but smaller so I'll just have to grin and bear it as no teeth yet....

Hi, just to say that my 10 month old biter seems to have stopped, or at least she gives me a knowing look before she does it now, so i get a bit of warning! But it lasted for about 3 weeks or so. It also coincided with her being under the weather with D&V - so maybe there is a connection.

My technique to get her off (as she would clamp down hard and long as well!) is/was to slide my index finger between her gums (where her molars would be) and then twist it slightly to prise her jaw open. All quite gently of course (and while cursing and gritting my teeth, naturally!)

Try and stick with the feeding if you can bear it and hopefully he'll ease up soon... my supply dropped off a bit because she was feeding so much less (I expressed a few times when I felt really full), but it's back up again now.

I've a feeling supply could be an issue, it's def dropping with being pg. I'm wandering if there would be an optimum time to express during the day so that I could top him up with ebm at night. Hope he's not self-weaning just yet, he crawls over for his feeds and still seems keen but def seems tense at times, but I guess me being tense doesn't help.
