How to introduce cow's milk & when should I drop bottles completely for my 11-month-old?

My DS is 2 weeks' shy of his first birthday so I thought I might aswell crack on with the switch over to cow's milk. He was breastfed until 8 months old and has been formula fed since then. Now he has one bottle of formula last thing at night and one first thing in the morning. Should I introduce cow's milk gradually or just do a straight switch? Was thinking of starting by swapping his morning bottle of formula for cow's milk... Would also like advice on when to ditch bottles completely - ie. swap them for a cup. He's happily drinking water out of spouty cups and open doidy cups during the day. What do you think?

I ditched bottles at 15mo, which coincided with DD going into nursery. Before that she'd been having only 1 ffeed a day so the switch to cups wasn't traumatic.

Re the swapping from formula to cow's milk, my DD wouldn't touch 100% cow's milk when I tried giving it to her the first time, so I just mixed it with formula in her bottle in gradually inccreasing quantities (started 70/30 formula/cow's milk then upped the milk and decreased the formula accordingly) and in a week she was drinking the real stuff with no problem.

Thanks, Brangelina. That's a great help. I'll definitely try the mixture approach if he turns his nose up at cow's milk.

What does anyone else think about how long they should still be taking milk from a bottle? I hate the idea of a 5 year old still glugging his bedtime milk from a teat, but then at nearly 12 months DS still seems like a baby to me. And what about amounts? He's having 200ml at night and 200ml in the morning at the moment. I'm assuming I just carry on with the same amounts...
