With DD I think I just expressed it in the shower and wasted loads. What does anyone recommend doing with the excess milk, I am bursting and don't remember it being this way last time. Do I need to express to avoid getting blockages and infection, or will DS eventually start drinking it all up?

I think you just express a bit to relieve the pain but not too much in case it stimulates further production.

Try in bra

ice packs
warm flannel
savoy cabbage leaves (best thing ever)

I used to wear the breast shells which relieved engorgement but couldn't bend over as all the milk would spill out and I'd have 2 lovely wet patches on my top! You can keep the milk from those as long as it hasn't been festering for too long! (And you'll know from the smell if it has).

Just put the baby on and rejoice in the fact that your body is making so much.Fantastic!!

I agree with Moondog. It's hot at the moment, and your lo may appreciate a quick drink! You can't over feed a bf baby, so don't worry about feeding as often as you/your ds like.

If your choose not to do the above, the milk will re-absorb and your supply should catch up with the demand in a few days. I don't know whether that will cause a blockage or not though.
