i used it when DS was around 7 months and started weaning... my supply seemed to really dwindle. I initially took 5mg 3 times a day for 3 days then cut down to 2 for about a week and then one a day for about a week.. it stared to work from about day two. I had to start using breast pads again. DS thought he was in heaven
Good luck

I took it when DD was about one month old and I don't think it made much difference. I can't remember how much I took. Sorry to sound quite negative but we were already failing at BFing when I started taking it so it was probably more to do with that than the domperidone not working.

Medications that stimulate lactation are known as galactagogues. Domperidone (Motilium) is a drug used to treat GI gastrointestinal disorders; as a side effect it increases prolactin production. as such it is used "off licence" out with licensing protocol. The Lancet, reports no known contraindications with the drug in lactating women.

it is prescription only medicine POM

Increased milk production can occur within 24 hours, but generally it takes three to four days, and maximum effect is reached in two to three weeks

I used it for a few weeks, but didn't really notice much effect. I did actually notice a much more immediate impact with a herbal concoction called more milk plus. I used it again recently after a hiatus of a few months and had an overnight effect! (I was trying to increase supply temporarily to cover a sicky day or two my dd had.)

i think it worked for me, not enough for me to feed exclusively but then i didn't get it until i think seven weeks. good luck, hope it works for you, and if not, that you make your peace with having tried your best.

Its not prescription only medication.. you can buy it in any chemist.. bit pricey though.
