Having a general anaesthetic tomorrow - is it safe to bf the next day?

Just had a mc at 8 weeks , and so have to go in for a D&C tomorrow and have a general. Will be under for about 15 mins apparently. Will it be okay to bf DS the next day? We're down to one feed a day (in the morning) so I could pump if necessary and just give him a bottle, but would much rather bf if possible. Think I will need the comfort to be honest...

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Charliesmum, you can bf as soon as you are conscious. When you are conscious, the anaesthetic has passed from your blood stream (obv, or you would still be unconsious) and when it has passed from your blood stream it is no longer in your milk.

Check the mumsnet archives for references on this. Remember, mothers who have a section with a GA bf as soon as they come round.

Sorry to hear about your mc

Hadn't thought about that - thanks. Don't think my brain is functioning on all cylinders at the moment...
