We've had a disaster of feeding and had finally got into the swing of it this week at 8 weeks pp - had started to enjoy things.

Then i woke up at ,3 this morning in agony in my right flank. I fed baby in tears and then my husband took over so I could try and sleep it off but it just got worse.

Called 111 who sent me to out of hours GP, who sent me to a and e for surgical review. Surgeon was adamant it was appendicitis. My left side was distended and agonising. I had started vomiting everywhere and a temperature. Sent baby home with dad as didn't want her catching something.

However on CT my appendix looked fine, but my bowel was hugely inflamed. They wanted to keep me in for fluids and observation but wouldn't have a bed for at least 8 hours and I was besides myself in the waiting room, so they let me go home with a follow up tomorrow.

I'm exhausted and in pain, and baby has had bottles soy day and just isn't interested in my boob. I just don't know what to do, or how I'll survive tonight. I'm just crying in pain and not able to rest, and my husband has been up since 3 as well and is a mess.

Do you have a pump so you can take meds and pump and bin? Anyone who could help?

Could you Google emergency night nannies so you can both sleep?

I had an operation while still breastfeeding, you can still feed. Although you may need to wait longer with a younger baby so you may need to pump. Check out BfN drugs in breastfeeding helpline if you need more support with medication.

But at the end of the day if you can't cope and baby isn't cooperative about feeding, you do need to put your health first. Good luck and I hope they manage to sort you out.

Get them to check for kidney stones too. Sounds really similar

How are you feeling this morning OP? Flowers my heart goes out to you - baby's early weeks are tough enough without Mum being seriously ill too. What time is your follow up? I hope you receive good care today.
