lump in breast 1 week after stopping breast feeding

Hi. Just a bit nervous as I found a hard, golf ball size lump in my right breast this morning. I haven't checked my breasts in months so don't know how long it's been there. I finished breastfeeding a week ago and breasts - mainly this right one - have been slightly tender. Could this be a blocked duct still? I massaged it slightly and a clear-ish milk has come out. Anyone have had similar experience? Hoping it's nothing but am a bit paranoid. THanks, x

yes this happened to me, it was a blocked duct i think.
i managed to clear it by soaking a disposable nappy in hot water then applying to the breast for a few mins (sounds wierd but it stays nice and hot much longer than a wash cloth would!) then i massaged the lump towards the nipple using a hand expressing motion, you have to apply pressure behind the lump. i did this while leaning over on all fours over a towel- not very dignified, but might as well let gravity help out.
quite a bit of milk came out and the lump disappeared.

i think it's worth giving this a go as you risk getting mastitis if you leave it. try taking ibuprofen if it's painful.

Had v lumpy boobs when I finished bfing DC1. Got quite painful after a week or so but I had a hot bath and laid 2 hot flannels on my boobs which seemed to do the trick!

Glad I found this thread (was just about to start one!) as I too have tender lump in right breast after stopping bfing about 4 weeks ago. Will try everything suggested here.

Makes you so worried at first, I've never had blocked ducts before and it didn't happen after stopping with ds1.

My lump has now gone, just a bit of milk came out and now there's nothing. One less thing to worry about
