How much expressed breast milk should I give her?

Hi There, I would love some advice - my LO is 3 months old and has 1 bottle of EBM each morning - (to get her used to it so that I can work on saturdays). My question is How much should she be having? Yesterday she had 150 mls and looked put out when the bottle was empty!

let her be your guide

if she scoffed 150ml maybe next time offer 180ml and see what happens

(don't let her get ahead of your expressing though...)

That is a bit of a worry! My supply seems to have reduced lately - I think she has upped her demand! - i used to be able to express 150mls out of one boob in 10 mins! () but now I have to use both boobs to get that much.

you could just give her a bottle very other day (while still expressing every day) - they don't forget that easily. DD had one bottle a week for ages.

Thanks - I will try that once I have got through this week. It was very traumatic last saturday as she fought the bottle and didn't really eat till I got back from work - so I made a huge effort to give her one bottle each day this week and so far so good - she is better at it each day. Only took her 5 mins of complaining yesterday. She is about to wake for her bottle now so I will see how it goes today - I have 180 precious mls ready!!

I only express once a day as I find it such a bore to wash and sterilise the expressing gear.

so long as you wash / sterilise it (I use the dishwasher) once every 24h you can just stick it in the fridge in between.
I express twice a day at work and there's no way I'd wash it all every time!

MrsBadger - so is it OK to express different times during the day into the same bottle?

The expressing is a pain enough without all the messing around that you have to do before and after each session.

BTW - she took all 180 mls - greedy little mite!

I don't think it is OK babyocho - I think you are supposed to refrigerate (or freeze) the milk immediately and not mix milks of different temperatures...but I am not an expert!

omy is right - don't pour warm milk into cold.
So after the morning session tip the milk out of the pump into something else and put it in the fridge along with the empty pump. Then in the afternoon express again, fridge the milk and wash the pump. Once that milk is cold you can add it to the morning's batch.
