Public breastfeeding in Portugal or Spain?

Does anyone have any experience of public breastfeeding in Spain or Portugal? We are off there soon for holidays (starting in Lisbon) and ds will be 3 months. Despite childfriendliness of both countries I fear they may be a more conservative when it comes to feeding in public?? We travelled there a lot before ds was born and can't think that I ever saw anyone bf but then wouldn't have been looking for it iyswim

We went to Spain (Madrid) when my son as nine weeks old and I fed in public in a Vips restaurant (family friendly place) No one batted an eyelid. My dad was sitting next to me though and he was a bit uncomfortable! As long as you are discreet I don't think you'll have a problem.

I live in Spain and you don't see as much public breastfeeding as in the UK. But I have never had any problems or been made to feel uncomfortable. In fact once I had a few old ladies gather around me making sure I'd latched ds on properly and then commenting on his intake and telling me I was doing the right thing.

We were in Portugal last year, DD3 was 4 months-ish and I breastfed her in restaurants/cafes/on the beach etcetera and never felt uncomfortable in any way.

was fine for us in Portugal last year too - no comments at all, and i fed him everywhere...

I live in Andalucia and have seen plenty of people breastfeeding in public and new shopping centres are always built with a breastfeeding room. I've yet to try it myself as DS and me need a bit more practice but I'll be doing it as soon as I can be more discreet. At the moment latching on involves a lot of boob waving and a bit of a struggle!

thanks everyone - that's all really encouraging!

I have never seen a breastfeeding room but thank god they are finally being built. I don't mind, I feed anywhere but have been out with friends with very young babies, who feel uncomfortable and they have gone to feed in the disabled loo, not really ideal.

My Dad lives in Spain and I recently BF my 17 month old daughter several times in public. It can look to most people that you are just cuddling your baby/toddler. Nobody ever said anything to me - but maybe they were too shocked .

Breastfed in Portugal and no one batted an eyelid, even though I didn't see anyone else feeding their babies...
