as long as she wants (but hoping she'll decide to stop well before the age of 8!)

2 or 3 would be old enough for me personally, but of course I'd support someone's right to do it for as long as both mother and child wanted to.

  1. Because that is when I stopped with DS#1. He carried on feeding at night until about 2 months before he started school. I was starting to get fed up with it and he was quite happy to stop.

it felt right for me until they started moving - about 12-14 months. Just seemed like they wanted to walk around with beakers instead of being attached to me.

CaptainKarvol · 21/04/2008 14:40

two. Or at least that is when I stopped. DH began to get uncomfortable with it around then, so for the sake of family harmony (not an unimportant consideration) I weaned DS. I was beginning to get fed up of it, too.

feels right for me under a year, possibly to 18 months .. beyond that I could never ever envisage

ShowOfHands · 21/04/2008 14:50

Until dd self-weans. I am pretty confident it will be before she is 8. It had better be before then.

crunchtime · 21/04/2008 14:53

i gave up at 12 months but wished i'd carried on longer. maybe 18 months-2?
tbh i felt i wanted my body back by then.

terramum · 21/04/2008 15:39

DS is almost 4 & has all but stopped in the last month or so & I will admit to being a little sad that he hasn't carried on...would have happily let him feed until whatever age he needed to.
