Why do more people not know about moist wound healing?

I was just reflecting on the last few months and thinking about the terrible time I had getting BF started. I had badly cracked and infected nipples and it caused four weeks of total agony where I was crying at every feed, then another four weeks of pain followed by four weeks of discomfort until hurah at three months things started to get better.

Thing is I sought a lot of help from counsellors etc and they all told me to leave my nipples to air dry. This just made things worse and I am so thankful to the advice I was given here about moist wound healing which finally set me on track.

Why do people not know about this? I wasted so much time air drying which only made things worse!

Have to say that moist wound healing only made me get thrush when I was breastfeeding. Air drying would not have allowed thrush to thrive like the moist environment.
