How do I stop my DS yanking my nipples about?

DS is nearly 19 weeks, and boy is he strong! He's started clamping his jaws shut on my nipple and waggling his head, then pushing back from me until POP! he manages to break the latch. Then he dives in again with glee and grabs hold of my boob like a killer whale attacking a sealion. Is this a sign that he's just messing around and isn't really hungry? If I take him off, he just wails, although I'm not sure if that's because he's still hungry or that I've spoiled his game!

I think partly the problem is that I have quie a slow let down, and he is a strong and speedy feeder. Sometimes he sucks like mad, uses up what's freely available, then pops off and cries. I have to give him the other side, maybe change his nappy, then put him back on the first side once let down has kicked in. Is this a problem other people have?

I feel horribly battered. What can i do please?

I just tried a saying a firm "no!" when he did it just now. you should have seen his face! He popped off, dribbled his mouthful of milk all over me and turned to face me with a look of such indignation. It was like he was saying "these are mine, i'll do just what I want with them, and it's really nothing to do with you!" Young reprobate. I can feel an ASBO coming on.

My dd is 21 weeks and does the same - nipple firmly clamped between gums and then she twists her head away and to the side as if just testing the elasticity for fun. It is AGONY!!!

I just watch her carefully towards the end of the feed and quickly unlatch her if she looks like she is going to do it. But no real solution I'm afraid. God knows what she'll do when she has teeth (shudder)
