Been bfing for 22 months - no problems at all, but woke up yesterday with a really painful to the touch lt breast, and it felt sort of engorged. Tried to get DS to have a good feed off it, but he wasn't that enthused about that side. Put hot water bottle on it last night. Same this morning, but expressed in the bath, and got some pus out.
Still hurts - can't seem to get any more pus out, but DS only feeds in the morning.

Feel a bit skanky, but breast not really hot to touch - a bit red.

So, do I need to go to the GP tomorrow in case its mastitis, or do I try and ride it out ?

Yes, make sure just to be safe. Like you I have BF for ages (19m) with no problems but I know lots of people who give up through mastitus so get it checked out

I have had unpleasant experiences with mastitis and would highly recommend that you go to your GP ASAP. The last thing you want is to develop and abscess.

I hope that you fell better in the morning but I would really have it checked regardless.

I am still feeding dd 25 months and did have mastitis when she was 21 months. It can be very unpleasant. Take care of yourself.
