DS (3 wks old) suddenly won't latch on one side - HELP

I've been having problems with latching my DS on one side and have v sore nipples. Now improving with Lansinoh and fresh air and I thought things were looking up, but now DS won't latch at all - its almost like he can't find the nipple. He keeps rooting and then gets cross and starts crying. He latches fine on the other side.

I've tried starting him on his favourite side and then sliding him across into a rugby ball hold and sometimes this works. Also if he is v hungry (ie in the middle of the night) he will sometimes latch.

I'm also expressing when I can't get him to latch to try to keep the supply going.

Any ideas?

like you describe, I'd try getting him to feed in the same position he will feed in one the other side, so sliding him across your body kind of thing
have you tried expressing (hand expressing might be easiest for this) a little milk before he tries to latch on, so you can put a few drops on his lips to encourage him and so the milk is 'on tap' straight away, in case he is getting frustrated at the wait?
will he feed lying down in bed at night so you can kind of lean over to offer the other breast and he might not notice?
is that any use?

Thanks. Will try expressing a "taster". Havent tried feeding in bed - I'm quite norky and hes v small so am worried about suffocating him!

Any thouhgs as to why he might suddeny not like it?

My ds went through phrases of preferring one boob to the other at around the same age, I found lying down was the only thing that didn't result in a battle, as trying the 'taster' didn't seem to work very well either

Hopefully this will pass, I can't remember when ds grew out of this, he is 12 wks now.
