Rugby ball hold - how can I make it more comfortable??

I've been using the rugby ball hold on one side as it makes feeding much easier and my 2 week old DS prefers it, but I really can't get comfy as I have to lean forward for him to do it.

He was feeding for just 10 minutes but he's taking longer now so my back aches as I lean forward.

Even when I sit in bed with a v-pillow behind me and him on a pillow I still have to lean forward or he's too far from the nipple.

What am I doing wrong?

thanx

Good tip about pillows.
Should he be on his back or on his side?

I used that hold on a chair with arms, so ds was on a pillow lying across my lap and the arm of the chair and I was holding his head to my boob rather than bending my boob down to his head.

Ds was on his back but I was large-norked.

Try raising your feet a bit. I used the find the same thing - aching back, etc etc - but having a foot rest to raise my lap (and the v-pillow on it) much more comfortable.

With a little practice you can then feed hands free!
