Cross cradle hold only works on one side

Hi, looking for some advice or shared experiences. I have a 4 week old who latches well on one side, but gets extremely distressed with the left boob. Often I cannot feed him from that breast at all. He moves his head in the opposite direction from my nipple, screams and moves his hands and arms around. Once he latches, it’s fine. I don’t get what’s going on, but it feels like I’m torturing him. Maybe it’s because I had a sore nipple on that side and pumped for three days instead of offering that breast ? One health visitor taught me the football hold , but i find it much more complicated. Has anyone gone through that ?

I had this for a while and they did grow out of it. Are you getting any RL support?

I'm going through this right now with my 14week old. We had 4 weeks of osteopath sessions as DD was breech until the day before she was born, which helped a little. Plus i think the fussy side is less productive than the side she prefers, so i find doing some compressions before trying to latch her helps as well. I think getting a good flow of milk helps. Rugby hold can really make a difference so worth perserving with.

thank you !! I’ll try to do compressions. The thing is that I have less milk on that side as a result of him stimulating it less often, which is probably making the problem worse. I’ll give rugby hold another go :)
