Help! Can you reheat defrosted expressed breast milk?

I know you can reheat normal milk, according to the kelly site...but can you reheat milk that was freshly frozen, defrosted by standing out then heated for a feed?

DD (grr!) refused the bottle I left for her for the first time today, so I'd like dh to use that milk for her feed tonight (which she always takes happily). That way I can freeze the 150ml I expressed this morning and save it for another day...assuming she ever agrees to take a bottle during the day, of course ...but that's a whole other thread!

not advised, no

SlightlyMadSweet · 09/04/2008 20:01

No.

Don't reheat more than once.

The kellymom(? I'm sure thats not right but brain is flat...) site says you can reheat breast milk twice fairly safely - thats why I'm trying to figure out whether having frozen it first will have made any difference...

I found it too

I would believe kellymom tbh actually! It is the bible of all things breastfeeding!

I never knew that and I am pretty 'hard core' lol

fillybuster · 09/04/2008 20:37

Coolio...so basically we're agreed that the freezing thing makes absolutely no difference? Thanks!!

I would taste it... When I was breastfeeding, if I was not sure about whether my EBM was off, I always tasted it after heating it off. There is a definite 'off' taste if it has gone bad. Better be safe than sorry!
