BF 9 month old and looking for ways to get period back.

Hi there,
I know this is a bit impatient of DH and I, but we are keen to start on baby number 2. DD (9 months old) has about 3 BF a day and 1 at night - and I thought my period would have returned by now. But it hasn't. Boo Hoo! (Never thought I would say that!)

Has anybody been in this situation - i.e wanting to conceive and still breast feeding - no sign of AF. What did you do? If I cut the feeds down for a short amount of time - i.e a couple of days, would my period return then? And in theory could I then increase the feeds again. Or do I have to just wait? I am just sooooooooooooo impatient and I guess it could be months. Somebody tell me something optimistic. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease!

Or is there anything else I can do at all?

Thanks

I don't think you need to cut down the feeding. My periods came back at 11 months and I stopped feeding at 18 months (when I immediately got pregnant - not sure if that's a coincidence).

That's interesting foofi... Can I be nosy now? When your periods returned did you use contraception until 18 months or did you just not get pregnant before then without using anything? I had heard that suddenly cutting down feeds brought AF back, hence my post. Maybe it will just happen on its own soon.

hi - am not sure whether this can help when bfeeding, but acupuncture is great at rebalancing the system. I did it when i came off the pill after my periods hadnt come back. maybe ask an acupuncturist?
