Best teat for a breastfed 8mo?

My DS has just started at nursery two days a week. Everything is going well apart from his milk - he refuses to take my EBM from a bottle. He's taken it at home a couple of times, so not sure why he is refusing it now, and was thinking that maybe I need to get a different size teat? The only ones we have are Avent size 2 and Mam size 2.

Which size should I be using, and is it likely to make much difference? I don't want him to have formula (silly pride issues - my BFing and PND are linked somewhat, and don't want to risk messing it up!)

He still has 3 good feeds a day and one at night, but I am worried about him going all day without milk. He eats very well (we did BLW and he took to it like a little star) and takes water from a sippy cup, but most of it ends up on his bib!

My comment about formula was in case the EBM is the issue, not the bottle, BTW!

dd put me through hell by refusing food, water and EBM for her first two weeks at nursery before I discovered it had gone off in the freezer and tasted minging

Four weeks in she is now wolfing 10oz a day of fresh/chilled or frozen-less-than-6wks-ago EBM and eating like a horse .

if he's eating well and it's only two days a week I'd chill a bit - get them to keep offering the teats he's used to and he may come round to it.

FWIW DS would never take a bottle - so when I went back to work he got EBM in a sippy cup. He sometimes spits it out or pours it all over DP instead of drinking it, but now at 8.5m he's better at taking most of it. He too is BLWed so his intake of solids and milk was a bit skimpy at first, but at 8m I reckon you'll be ok. Never been a problem for us, when I'm not around the world's too interesting to waste time looking for food! )

I would by pass the bottle completely and put his EBM in a sippy cup... and be prepared that it won't be good enough because it's not direct from the source!

He'll be fine if he doesn't have any during the day for 2 days a week

So putting it into a sippy cup could be the answer! It's freshly expressed - I had a similar problem to you MrsBadger, my milk seemed to curdle in the freezer.

I think if the sippy cup fails I'll just leave it, you're right, it is only 2 days a week Thanks!
