advice on how to express more than 2ml

My ds is now 10 weeks, and I am hoping for a job interview in 6 weeks, so need to store 2 feeds of ebm. I thought now was a good time to try and get expressing going and get ds introduced to ebm.

I know I've got enough milk (he's growing well) and I used to be able to express up to 30ml in hospital when ds was up to 5 days old. So the last few nights I've tried hand expressing, hand and electric pumping with nothing to show for it except sorer nips and about 1-2ml ebm

any tips? I've been trying after a bath, about 2 hrs after last feed (ds feeds every 2-3 hrs), starting with breast massage, looking at him.

Have you tried expressing from one side while he feeds off the other? That and expressing first thing in the morning are what have worked for me.

Yes - first thing in the morning was always better for me too. If you can't feed your baby and express at the same time, try looking at him while you are doing it! Worked for me.

Express early in the morning when you are well rested. I used to express from no. 2 breast after DS2 had finished feeding and then use it in his breakfast when he was on solids.

Use an electric pump preferably and massage the breast you are pumping from to really empty and warm up your milk ducts

Warm up a wheat bag in the microwave and place it on the boob to increase your let down.

Relax while you are doing it by reading the paper or whatever instead of watching every drop. Warm up a wheat bag in the microwave and place it on the boob to increase your let down. HTH

I express 100-150 ml per day since baby was 10 weeks old. From 12 to 5 pm, that is during the night, I try to feed baby using only one breast allowing the milk to accumulate in the other breast - bear in mind though that my baby sleeps well during the night and does not wake up often. So in the morning when 'unused' breast is full, it is very easy to express the milk from it.
