Is it normal for a 4 month old to have a sudden decrease in appetite?

DS2 is 17 weeks and currently only drinking between 2-4ozs of a bottle, feeding 4 times during the day and 1 feed at night usually between 2am and 4am. He is sometimes only having 20ozs per day. He was a big baby (9lb 1oz born) and currently weighs about 16 lb, hi weight gain has slowed right down the last couple of times he has been weighed and he has slipped down his centile (but nothing drastic). Is this anything to worry about?

I don't know how normal it is but sounds a lot like what we're going through currently. My DS2 is 20 weeks and has also slowed right down in the last week or so - some feeds only 3 or 4 oz. Today he only took 16 oz over 5 feeds. Our problem is that he will then be wanting to feed at least twice during the night to make up for it (I've started a thread about this in Behaviour & Development).

DS was 7lbs 14 when he was born so not huge but seems to have been on a constant growth spurt ever since - currently weighs just over 19 lbs and is just above 91st centile. I guess it's a good thing if his growth rate slows down somewhat (he weighs the same at 4 mths as DD1 did at 9 )
