Anyone has fertility treatment whilst still breastfeeding?

Hi,
Have an appt booked to start fertility treatment. Will hopefully use IUI as dd was conceived this way. DD is 17 months and has an early morning and last thing at night feed. Not sure if I can carry this on once treatment starts because of the drugs that are used (sorry don't know which ones they are). Anyone had expierience of this? May sound strange but I wanted advice other than from the consultant as they do not always know all the ins and outs when it comes to BF.

I can't help you but have you contacted La Leche League? They're usually quite good on this kind of stuff

I only really know about IVF, and you certainly can't BF taking any of the IVF drugs as they are just massive doses of artificial hormones, and wouldn't be good at all for the baby. Clinics vary in their advice - some say 1 month others 3 months between giving up BF and starting treatment. Not sure about IUI and the drugs you take for this, sorry.

I can empathise, as I stopped BF DD at 13 months as I wanted to start treatment again, not for any other reason. It really sucks.

Thanks. I'm hoping because the doses used for IUI are less than IVF I will still be able to feed. I, like you don't want to stop yet, we are both not ready. Going to contact La Leche, I want to have hopefully an argument for continuing if the clinic are against it.
