DD number two nrmally a great feeder but after catching D and V from older sister has ended up with upper respiratory tract infection. Dr doesn't want to give antibiotics as most likely a virus but LO fussing at her bottle and stops after an ounce or 2. sometimes I can then calm her down with her dummy and she'll take a little mre but she seems to be geting more snuffly not less. THis has been going on for 2 weeks now and I'm finding it hard going. Still getting wet nappies but not as wet as they were! Tried feeding in the bathroom with shower on, tried a humidifier and nasal drops and Karvol...even tried a snot sucker thing but there is nothing to see up her nose to suck. I'm at my wits end and am wondering how long do these things normally take to clear up when they are so small???

Try saline drops in her nose 5 minutes before your going to feed her

i sat in steamed bathroom to feed my ds found this helped loads with decongesting him i layed him over my lap to start with as made his nose run and was able to clear some then id turn him up to feed

try putting small amount of baby vicks on once sat in steamed room as will help keep breathing easier

did have to do this for nearly every feed was slightly annoying but as long as he fed it didnt worry me too much also lay propped up so any mucus has chance to come up and not settle and air ways stay open

Have you tried the Karvol vapouriser? Plugs into a socket so fills whole room (sounds a little over-powering but I really like the smell of Karvol ). We found it v good at night time. I think its OK to use from 3 mths on.
