9 week old breastfeeding experiences

I have a 9 week old baby and I'm really feeling very not confident right now.e her feeding. She has no pattern and sleeps sooo much. But lots of wet and dirty nappies. Could anyone with a baby close to this age tell me what their babies sleeping and feeding is like to compare ? She sleeps all night which is bizzare to me as she's bf ! But doesn't want to be woken up:)

Some Bf babies do sleep all night. Is she gaining weight and bright and alert at times @90mamabear?

Mine is 9 weeks and similar! Getting a regular 6 hour block of sleep from her at night, and spends a lot of the day sleeping too. She’s starting to settle into a bit of a pattern, but because every day is different for us it’s harder to form a pattern really!

Hi OP, is your baby gaining weight as expected? Are you are feeding regularly and they are having at least 6 wet nappies per 24 hours and soft yellow stools?
Night feeds are important for milk supply but some babies do sleep longer periods than others
If she's growing and developing then don't worry.
Breastfeeding provides food and comfort so you won't have a routine as such.

I don't have an ebf DC ATM but I have end 3dc.

All 3 fed differently and no e of them had a set pattern/routine until they were about 4months old (and even then it would change, just every couple of mo this rather than days/weeks).

It's what (ime) ebf babies do.

As long as they're gaining weight and seem happy in themselves - even if that's at 4am when you'd really rather be asleep - then they're fine.

@90mamabear i have an 11 week baby, I’m EBF also and she has a routine since 6/7 weeks were she sleeps 5-6 hrs when she goes down first, will feed (almost asleep for few mins) and sleep another 3-4 hrs so I think all babies are just different. I record my LOs sleep/awake times, I think it’s worth doing for a few days to know exactly what they are sleeping versus waking. We have roughly 7hrs awake and 17 sleeping over each 24 hr period.
As pp’s have said, once she’s gaining and developing well I wouldn’t worry. I think we’re just lucky we have sleeping babies tbh. Could be a different story in a week or months time who knows

Some BF babies can definitely sleep through at that age, both of mine did!

I mentioned this to the health visitor with DC2 as she was slow to gain weight, HV said it's fine and DD would wake up if she was hungry.

Sounds normal to me. I don’t recall either of mine ever having much pattern, they just fed whenever. Feeding on demand is best. They do generally still sleep a lot at that age too, though the range of normal is huge. Enjoy the sleeping through the night, it may not last! Sleep changes a lot throughout the first year, best to roll with the punches
