Weaning food ideas

I’ve just started weaning my daughter , tonight she had hipp organic cheesy spinach and potato bake and banana yoghurt for desert followed by a full bottle
I’m really struggling for food ideas as she loves to eat the melty puffs so wanna try her on finger foods aswell as pouches
What should I give her for breakfast / lunch / dinner ? Don’t wanna just give her solely pouches and wanna get a bit adventurous with it ! easiest way to introduce allergens ?

Introduce the main allergens one at a time.

But otherwise feed her whatever. Banana porridge was a big hit with my DDs for breakfast.

Sliced apple, sliced hard boiled egg, cheese slices, toast fingers, omelette (with a variety of fillings) cut into fingers, jacket potato, veg sticks, are all good lunch options. I also made these grated carrot pancake things (basically a scotch pancake recipe with grated cheese, carrot and a bit of garlic) which they loved and were good for taking in the pram for a snack.

Dinner we went with whatever we were eating, maybe slightly modified depending on what it was.

I can't remember what we did re introducing the allergens!
But this is a recipe we made a lot, and DS still loves it at 3yrs. Just need a blender/food processor. It's easy to change the flavours by swapping the spices (eg Italian spices with oregano, thyme, basil), and you can add veggies like sweetcorn, or greens, or even ground meat.

LENTIL & EGG TRAY BAKE
Blend:

  • 3 eggs
  • 5 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 can of lentils (or any kind of bean)
  • garlic powder (to taste)
  • onion powder (to taste)
  • 3/4 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp curry powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • salt to taste (can omit this for young ones)
  • 50g plain flour

Decant to parchment-lined 8 inch square baking tin (or can make mini-muffins).

Bake at 190c for 20-30mins

Cut into squares.

For finger foods just give her whatever your eating cut appropriately! Can’t advise on blended foods never gave them.

How old is your DD @Ellarose23?

If she's 6 months I'd just stick to offering food once a day for a while. You're aiming to get to 3 times a day between 8 and 9 months according to the NHS guidelines.

This guide from the Caroline Walker Trust has some good suggestions if first foods to try Wink

I can't imagine weaning solely on processed packaged foods. Really? People do this?

Just offer her bits of what you’re having?
