Breastfeeding and return of periods

How long can it take for periods to return when breastfeeding? My 15mth old is feeding once a day and I haven't had a period since she was born.

That seems long. Mine came back within a few weeks of dd's first taste of baby rice - before I'd even noticed any drop in her milk consumption. I think most people I knew they returned once the number of feeds began to drop. Have you talked to your doctor?

Mine returned when DS3 was 9m and I was still feeding him abou 6 times a day

I think some women have to stop feeding completely before they return.

No sign of a period here after 13 months, and I'm also only feeding my daughter once a day. Apparently my mum was the same so I'm not worrying about it - although I'd quite like to start thinking about no.2 soon!

My dd is 12 months and my period came back 6 weeks ago. My gp told me some woman don't get them back till they completely stop bf'ing.

Blimey - I take it back! I'm feeling quite hard done by, as I have to say I was quite disappointed they returned so quickly. I guess different people's bodies deal with the hormones differently - same as with pregnancy.

My dd is 10 months old and I have sort of had periods for 2 months now. i say 'sort of' cos they have only lasted a day each time + have not been v significant in terms of blood loss.

My post partum haermorrage didn't cease until ds was about 8 weeks old. Had a couple a days of no bleeding then bleeding started again for another week. Ds is 13 weeks now and started bleeding again on Saturday - can only assume periods have restarted. Yet ds is exbf!! Am I just unlucky?

DD was 15 months when my periods returned (down to two feeds a day) - exactly two years to the day of my last one...spooky.

My DS is 16 months and I've still not had a period. He's been two 2 bfs a day but I've just dropped it to one.

dd3 is 11 months and still no period here. She feeds 2-3 times a day - and apart from the last two nights usually has something in the night.

ds is 11m and no periods here neither. But then he feeds about ninety gazillion times a day and night!

With all 4 of mine, periods returned 4 weeks after birth despite fully bf.

Mine was 14 months and still bf 2 or 3 times a day when periods came back.

Prob stating obvious here but did you know that you can still get pregnant before periods return? Just makes calculating dates a bit tricky at 1st.

mine came back when dd was 6 weeks old. the day after the bloody post birth bleed stopped!

with ds didn't start again until I'd completely stopped bfing which was over two years, with dd I'm still feeding and they came back when she was about 7 months old or so.
