TMI alert - is there something going on that my body knows but my brain doesn't?!

Curious thing, which I wondered if any bf experts have a view on. The past few weeks I've really noticed some changes in my body. I am ex bf my 18wk old son, but I've noticed that after all this time the baby weight is slowly dropping off (I'd resigned myself to being chubby until I stopped bf), my boobs have shrunk back to pretty much normal size (I'm in my old bras though boobs just a bit fuller) and today I got my period for the first time since I got pregnant.

The past few days DS has been really cranky and hungry. Last night we had one of our marathon waking-every-hour nights (ugh). It's sadly not unusual for him but there is usually a reason for it, whether a growth spurt or illness. But there's nothing going on for him ATM, so...

Am I going mad, or could these things be related? Is my body pretending it's business as usual and, um, not producing enough milk or different milk?? I know it's crazy, and I am hideously sleep deprived but it feels like things are changing.

Anyone got any views on this at all?!

The weight loss/shrinking boobs thing sounds fairly normal to me as does the returned period - - unless I was abnormal too of course!

I know that many women experience a drop in milk supply during their period - could that explain it?

Disclaimer - I am not a BF expert but I have heard a fair few of women say this.

It's not unusual to get temporary changes to your milk supply while you have your period. It will settle down again.

Ah OK, so I'm not going totally mad then...! I think I must have had a drop in supply yesterday and last night (he's been back to normal today during the day). And at least the weight's coming off at last, though a shame to lose the impressive cleavage!
