Has anyone produced actual milk before giving birth (as opposed to just colostrum) when they weren't actually bf another child ?

I am 39+1 pg and am actually producing milk that will squirt out in a jet. I have done some nipple stimulation but not more than a few mins per day, am worried that baby will not get colostrum .
Will this cause a problem?

Is quite normal to have some - not sure about that much.

Oh I did, had loads but I still only had colostrom once babe had been born-but yes jets beforehand.
Think i had(still have) devon gold top too

jersey gold top not devon, sorry thinking of other things!

Please don't worry that you will run out of colostrum before the baby is born....the change from colostrum to mature milk is triggered by the delivery of the placenta.

Terramum so it is still colostrum even though I could squirt it across the room ?

Looking at the descriptions of the differences between colostrum and actual milk on the links, I definately am producing actual milk and not colostrum.

I expressed my colostrum after DS was born & it was yellower than the later milk, but I didn't notice much difference in the texture - I think it does vary from woman to woman.

If you are worried though it might be worth talking to a BFC or your midwife for some reassurance.

Thanks terramum, I am due on Sunday and was thinking of going to my local bussom buddies group on Friday (provided I haven't given birth!) as am due sunday! Hopefully can ask them.
