7wo who has suffered with grunting ++ and wind since changed to Aptamil formula at 1wk. Changed to SMA gold and Dr brown bottles, then constipated. Back to Aptamil and put in infacol, improved. Worsened again and pooing once every 24-48hrs, closer to 48hrs, with LOTS of smelly wind along with grunting for HOURS b4 poo arriving!!
Saw Osteopath last monday who said due to being back to back delivery at a very high speed, did her magic and suckling imp+++, pooing well since but last 24hrs grunting now is practically groaning, been at it all night but no poo as yet, not since sat afternoon.
Also as its our fist we not sure what is 'average/normal' winding prcedure during a feed? How often in a 5ox/150ml feed would you stop a non-windy baby for a burp? How many burps would you expect? We stop him after taken 50ml, but no burp, so we think trapped and persevere trying to wind!! Overnight a feed took me 1hr 10mins, but he only actually took 15-20mins to get milk down him just took this long to get burp up!! Are we just paranoid abut the wind and thats better now?
With regards to the current groaning and farting would it be worth trying different milk again? Wnadered about C & G Comfort, but is that any better than aptamil first? Is it an equivalent to aptamil easy digest rather than first!!
Soz to blast you all so early in the morning!!

Hi Crackpotdog think our babies could be twins! DS2 was also back to back and was delivered by verouse after a very fast labour - 2-10cm in under an hour - resulting in jammed neck - he was also very windy from birth and was a nightmare with constipation. We saw a chiropractor specialising in babies who also worked wonders. He is still windy from both ends and often wakes himself up farting , anyway we have used Cow and Gate comfort (yes it is an equivalent to aptamil easy digest) since he was 2 weeks old (now 23 weeks) and it definitely helps with constipation although their pumps and poohs smell disgusting again! One tip we got from the chiropractor which definitely works is to put an omega 3 and 6 capsule into 2 of their feeds in 24 hours. We use the eye-q ones from boots, if you check their website they have no side effects apart from a slight laxative ffect which is what we were using them for.

As for winding - we have always let DS2 come off the bottle himself when he needs winding, sometimes he will take a whole bottle, other times stops after a couple of ounces. If I haven't got any wind up after 10 mins I lie him in the cot and if he has got wind he squirms around, and if I pick him it comes up straight away - so lying him down to see if he has got wind almost seems to help iyswim? if not he will usually settle straight away. The chiropractor showed us some really good winding techniques and also colic massage which helps with helping them to poo! let me know if you want details as I have rambled on a lot already!!! I have been there so I know how you feel!
