FF baby gulping gallons of air when feeding

ds is 3 weeks old and has started gulping loads of air when feeding, im having to burp him 6 or 7 times during a feed and im amazed he doesnt go whizzing off my lap and zooming around the room like a deflating balloon he swallows that much air.
ive tried feeding him sitting up straight, almost flat on his back and every position in between, ive tried different teat sizes and tightening and loosening the bottle top and nothing helps.
is this normal for a baby and does anyone have any idea how i can stop him gulping air.
