Best pumping schedule

Need some advice on what others did as I'll be expressing from the beginning and if there's and other tips/advice will be appreciated.

Just giving you a hopeful bump as I never really got on with pumping

I had to pump when my baby was first born as he was unwell (got him on the breast at 8 weeks). I spoke to many lactation consultants and advise was to pump 8 times a day with at least 1 pump between the hours of 2 and 6 am to establish supply. I double pumped (both sides) for at least 20 mins each time. It was tiring and sometimes only managed 7 pumps but it works and supply still good now a year into breastfeeding. Good luck!

In terms of tips. I had two pumps - one portable and one fixed so could get stuff done while I pumped at times. Lots of spare parts so not sterilising quite so often. Set up pumping station in room inc. cooler so not up and down stairs all the time. Microwave steriliser bags! Expect the amount you pump to be different at different times of day. Lots to eat and drink. IMO it was harder than breastfeeding directly so I would think about doing a bit of both if possible.
