Worried about weight loss

I've got a 6 week old, ebf.

I'm trying to look after myself as best as I can but have a very demanding toddler and an energetic dog and often find myself skipping meals and just having a snack on the go. Don't have much appetite as I'm pretty anxious postnatally too. As a result the weight is dropping off me.

I'm not too worried as I have plenty to lose but I know that it's not recommended to lose much more than a pound a week whilst feeding incase it affects milk supply.

My boobs have felt a bit softer recently.

Anyone lost more than guidelines and milk been affected? Thanks

Milk level dropping around 6 weeks is perfectly normal so don't worry about feeling softer. You still have plenty of milk.
I've lost loads of body fat since my 14 month was born, still BF now. Didn't have much fat to start with. Annoyingly my weight is actually still normal because I've gained so much muscle on account of him being a reflux baby, plus fiesty older child, plus dog.
I've had blood tests and doctor has ruled out anything else so it is just lack of calories and too much exercise. Think I'm finally making improvements now though with very big breakfasts, eggs for lunch, lots of yoghurt, mixed nuts, high calorie smoothies.
Try to focus on healthy fats, protein and lots of water. You would notice yourself getting overly hungry before your milk supply is affected

Totally agree with Hide. I'd also make sure that you're taking a decent Vitamin and Calcium supplement each day.

The weight absolutely fell off me with DD1, to the point that I came close to being underweight. Milk supply was apparently completely fine, she was EBF, gained weight well. If baby seems satisfied and is having plenty of wet and dirty nappies, I'd assume your supply is okay.

Can you or your DH prep lunch for you the night before or in the morning to help avoid you skipping it? Or if you really don't have much appetite, the midwives' advice to me was to eat what I fancied and not worry too much about balance in the short term. I found plain yoghurt with fruit slipped down easily, and is relatively nutritious.
