We started weaning at 6 months. Our little one did not like purees although we tried these for 2 weeks, leading with vegetable ones alongside veg finger foods. He seemed to much prefer finger foods so we did more BLW and by 8m he was enjoying 2 meals a day, ate most things we tried and if he refused something we had a selection of other things he would eat. He ate a lot of what we ate and so was on "meals" quite quickly rather than puree combos. On holiday at 8.5m he was eating a lot so we upped him to 3 meals a day which went well. He was still breastfeeding but has always been a very efficient feeder, only having a few mins here and there in the day alongside a couple of long night feeds.
Now at 9months, since cutting his 2nd tooth he is absolutely uninterested in eating. He will eat weetabix or porridge for breakfast and if we are lucky we can get some smashed up fruit in there. I know babies can be fussy and it can take many tries. The problem is he will not eat anything else we give him, whether it be finger foods or meals. We've tried pouches, our meals, eg finger foods, things like pinwheels and pancakes that he used to love. He touches the food, sometimes brings it to his mouth and then refuses to eat. We think there may be more teeth on the way and he has also had a viral infection but it's been nearly 3 weeks now of nothing but breakfast and I'm starting to get worried. He doesn't up his milk to compensate and refuses to BF when not due to nap. Nappies and weight ok but HV worried that he is back to 1 meal a day effectively. Is this a phase? I'm so worried things won't improve. I don't want to start giving him breakfast foods for every meal just to get him eating but that's seemingly what everyone is advising?
