I have to share my bf triumph! Not much really but meant the world to me

I've had terrible, terrible problems bfing including the hospitalisation of my dd due to dehydration and being yelled at by a so-called bfing midwife. I still can't bf exclusively (absolutely no milk on one side - not much on other) but despite everything I have managed to bf for nearly 21 weeks. It might not seem much to those who do bf exclusively, but I'm just so proud of myself. I kind of lurk on this board and I've picked up loads of hints and tips.

Anyway, the other night dd woke up in her cot and appeared to try to latch herself onto the control unit of the cot mobile, sucking away and everything!!! I just feel so proud of her that I just wanted to share.

Wow, MM, that's fantastic, and I do know just how hard it is, so well done.

Bouncingturtle · 02/03/2008 11:30

Big pat on the back to you! Keep up the good work

elkiedee · 02/03/2008 12:08

Well done

ib · 02/03/2008 12:08

Congratulations! She's a very lucky baby, and obviously appreciates all your hard work!

MM - it's wonderful to have persisted in bf despite all your difficulties at the start

How about writing a letter to the authorities about it all - as well as being yelled at , you can point up the fact that when babies are readmitted for dehydration, it is almost always because bf has not been going well, and the people whose job it is to assess this have not been working properly. Someone, probably several people, may have told you everything was going fine

bravo, well done and good on you for feeling, rightly, proud.

i stuggled too, at first (not as many probs as you, luckily for me) and it was hell on earth! so you have my utmost respect for battling through.

tiktok is right. we need to speak up more to improve things i think. they rely on us being so bloody tired we dont have the energy to complain at shortcomings in childbirth and post birth care, inc bf 'assistance'.

(who are 'they' i wonder?? [admonishes self for perpetuating theyreallouttogetme mentality]
