I did consider donating to the local hospitals milk bank when I seemed to have a never ending surplus with ds2!

Not sure about a wet nurse though!

MrsMar · 28/02/2008 21:33

No, would donate to milk bank if I had some to spare. My grandmother said she did during the war because there were loads of babies with no mothers and no formula in those days. But I'd feel vvvv odd with someone elses baby at my bosom. I would be happy to express and give in a bottle though. I think it's just the act of bfing that would be too much for me.

LynetteScavo · 28/02/2008 21:35

NO!

FrannyandZooey · 28/02/2008 21:36

yes, I would consider it
I have loved breastfeeding

expatinscotland · 28/02/2008 21:36

Sure, if the pay were very good.

hunkermunker · 28/02/2008 21:36

I would. I donated milk too.

Slouchy · 28/02/2008 21:37

Yes, for my sisters' children.(God, I hope there is never any need though)
Express for others, happily.

KristinaM · 28/02/2008 21:37

LOL expat

A London nanny agency is looking into offering wet nurses.....

theyoungvisiter · 28/02/2008 21:38

I would feed a baby in some unspecified but dire emergency but I wouldn't feel right about being paid for it (was that what you meant? Wet nurse implies a career choice to me!).

I think I could only feed a tiny baby though - I have no problems feeding my own toddler but could never feed another mother's. All that stuff about Louis the whichever-it-was being bf by his wet-nurse at the age of 14 - blurgh.

as a favour to someone who really needed me to feed their small baby, yes

as a career choice, no!

S1ur · 28/02/2008 21:43

I'd do it if need be.

Practicality issues would concern me though, but am ok with idea of bf other baby.

There was a thread about this a while ago and interestingly the majority of posters were ok with wet nursing others but felt uncomfortable with someone else feeding their child.

I thought about it then and realised I felt like that too.

I'd happily feed someone elses baby but felt all possessive over my own! But I would have been amazingly grateful if my sister stepped in for my newborn had I needed it.

expatinscotland · 28/02/2008 21:44

Imagine you could get paid for sitting on your arse MNing! Yeah, baby!

S1ur · 28/02/2008 21:46

And just think of all those extra calories you'd burn for said sitting round on arse.

theyoungvisiter · 28/02/2008 21:48

do you think you could claim for cake on your expenses? As being a necessary professional expense, natch.

readytopop · 28/02/2008 21:49

I would, either in an emergency or on a regular basis if the pay were good (I'm a mercenary sod!).

Would draw the line somewhere in the older baby age group though, drew the line for my two when they started to try to help themselves

jellies · 28/02/2008 21:49

Again I would do it happily.. and donated to the hospital milk bank.. but when my son was in NICU he only had my milk.. was not happy for him to get doner!

Martha200 · 28/02/2008 21:51

I would, assuming I had all the time in the world.. as for the other way around, as long as mother was healthy (clean bill of health) I wouldn't be that worried about another mother feeding my baby either.. would have really helped me when I had a bout of mastitis.

readytopop · 28/02/2008 21:51

or chocolate on expenses...

now you're talking

Reesie · 29/02/2008 19:57

Gosh! I could either run around ragged in my job with deadlines and stress coming in from all angles or I could chill on a comfy sofa with a remote control and eating a chocolate biscuit whilst a small baby snuggles up having a feed??

Sorry - where do I send an application form to?

LittleMissBliss · 29/02/2008 20:02

I would donate milk.

Wilkie · 29/02/2008 20:04

My MIL was breasfed by her older sister who had just had a baby at the same time. MILs Mum had to go in hosp and there was no one else to do it!
