DS is 3 mths and breastfed. I want to start giving a bottle but wondered how many ounces of ebm to give him at a time as I don't want to waste any. thanks

As far as I know, it really varies. I've heard people say anything from 2 to 6 oz. Could you try making up two or three bottles with small amounts and offer him one at a time as an experiment to see how much he takes.

Hi Smiling, depends on appetite of babe - mine would take about 4 oz at that age. Best thing, to avoid waste, is freeze in 2 oz quantities. First time, defrost 4 oz, the average a babe that age might realistically take, then if he finishes that, next time do 5 oz, or if not, 3 oz. You're better off using more bags with just one or 2 oz in so you can add the bottle up the right amount when you need it, and as your DS increases his appetite. This way to don't waste any precious EBM!

smiling - my 10 wk old takes 5-6oz of EBM but he is quite a big baby (about 13lb now I think) - i would start off with 4oz and see if your DS wants more
