How many bf a day to keep up supply? (baby is almost 1 yr old)

DD is almost a year old now
She's having a couple of bottles of formula a day now and then 2-3 breastfeeds

She seems to prefer the bottle

How many bf do I need to do in 24 hrs to keep up my supply?
(I saw a thread the other day saying 1 feed a day was not enough)

My DD2 is 17 mo and has 2 or sometimes 3 bfeeds in 24 hrs. I'd say you need at least that number if you want to keep up the supply.
I never gave my DDs bottles of formula. You could cut out the formula and replace with more breast, couldnt you?
Good luck

Thanks Shitemum
I'm intending to give up soon but not quite decided when yet

When my ds turned a year i was bf him 3 times per day - morning, late afternoon and evening. Just after his 1st birthday i cut this down to just morning and evening and gave him a cup of (cows)milk in the afternoon. I continued to feed him twice a day until he was 18mo and then i replaced the eveing feed with a cup of warmed cows milk. I continued on one feed a day for the next few months. My supply seemed fine and it wasn't until a good while after stopping bf completely that my milk ' dried up'.

Am planning to do the same with dd who turns 1 next week.

I fed ds1 just 1 feed per day at bedtime for ages and had no supply problem. I think it is quite common for older babies to be fed like this.

Thanks

I have dropped to one (bedtime) and my supply has almost gone, there's not enough for that feed and I have to give him a bottle too

Sorry to hear that PuppyDogTails

I'm conflicted, I want to give up but I fed DC1 for longer and feel guilty

I didn't really want to stop but I'm going back to work so weaned DS down to morning and night. Now he's not interested in morning feeds so we're just on night, which is where the problem has arisen!

You shouldn't feel guilty, you've given DD a wonderful year.
